You&#8217;ve been approved as a CPA Mentor<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Familiarize yourself with the CPA competencies and proficiencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarize yourself with using the CPA Way to address the enabling competencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand the expectations of mentorship for yourself and your mentee <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Establish a relationship with your CPA Candidate<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plan an introductory meeting to establish expectations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get to know each other- discuss past work\/education experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a plan for the candidate to have their reports completed semi-annually and for the both of you to meet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Meet with your mentee semi-annually <\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discuss your mentee&#8217;s current progress and experience within this reporting period<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide guidance and relate your experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review any enabling competencies using the CPA way<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop future goals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Document your meetings in PERT<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In PERT, document the meeting for your mentee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a brief summary of the discussion you and your mentee had<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify any next steps or action items<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlight any areas of excellence and identify any areas of concern<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading small-hl\" id=\"CPA-Practical-Experience-Requirements\"><strong>CPA Practical Experience Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates are expected to be employed in a relevant position where:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They will be able to gain at least 30 months professional accounting experience within the workforce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete Mentors are <u>not expected <\/u>to<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify the accuracy of the mentee\u2019s \/candidate\u2019s self-assessments or competency development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tutor CPA students\/candidates or assist in their academics. Including: progress in pre-requisite education, CPA Professional Education Program, or CPA evaluations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find jobs for CPA students\/candidates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading small-hl\" id=\"Mentor-meetings\"><strong><strong>Mentor Meetings<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introductory Meeting<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your mentee should be scheduling this meeting shortly after identifying you as their mentor, and within their first 3 months of starting PEP\/activating their PER start date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This meeting is meant for you and your mentee to get to know each other\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discuss past work experiences, education\/achievements, future goals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set expectations<ul><li>Decide the best way for you and your mentee to communicate<ul><li>Email, text, phone<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Decide what works best for you and your mentee on meeting\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Phone, virtually, in person<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a plan\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Schedule your meetings in advance\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set future dates to help manage your candidates timeline in finalizing their reports and meeting the practical experience requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">After the introductory meeting, mentors should expect to hear from their mentees semi-annually as per the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpacanada.ca\/-\/media\/site\/operational\/ec-education-certification\/docs\/02639-ec_cpa-per_en.pdf?rev=8de06e55dc8c49299748d6ca3325156f&amp;hash=9F2D0A2918C0E9D5E78E4428C70464DA\">practical experience requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><i>***CPA Candidates are required to complete a report and meet with their mentor semi-annually. Any missed mentor meetings can result in a months penalty for duration\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Candidates will create a report, have it set to verified and request a mentor meeting through PERT. Mentors receive an automatic email from PERT with a link to the candidates report letting them know they are requesting a meeting. It is the responsibility of the candidate to reach out via email to the mentor directly to set up a day and time to meet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Candidates reports should include technical competencies for that specific reporting period. Candidates are encouraged to complete at least one or two enabling competencies per report, but is not required to have any completed, so long they are all completed and to a level 2 by the end of their 30 months.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;
